GAO, Mali, Sept. 12 -- A car bomb attack occurred in a government military camp within the Gao region of Mali on September 8, leading to eight United Nations' personnel injured at varying degrees. They were promptly transported to the Chinese Level-II hospital for medical treatment.

Upon receiving the injured individuals, the medical staff of the 10th Chinese Peacekeeping Level-2 Hospital to the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) conducted a triage and treatment process. Currently, seven of the injured have safely returned to their duties after undergoing medical examination and treatment, while one is still under observation and recovery after surgery at the hospital.

The head of the contingent explained that the security situation around the MINUSMA Super Camp in Gao has deteriorated as the MINUSMA entered the withdrawal phase. In response, the Chinese contingent has appropriately strengthened its air evacuation capabilities. They also conduct regular large-scale exercises for the treatment of wounded personnel, continuously enhancing their ability to provide medical care in complex environments and improving their self-defense capabilities.
